The National Trust at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal asked us to install 1000m of deer fencing around the historic Mackershaw deer park to secure their herd of wild Red, Sika and Fallow deer. We used 9' x 3"-4" round tanalised intermediate posts every 3m with 6-7" round tanalised strainer posts at every change in direction. The fence was secured using double height, high tensile tornado stock net. Reputable, local supplier Grantley Sawmills fabricated 3 x 12' timber deer gates which we hung on 10' x 8" x 8" tanalised timber gate posts. Studley Royal shoot own the freehold shooting rights to the deer park so we constructed a ladder-style stile to allow the gamekeepers to safely climb over and dogs crawl under without putting pressure on the newly tensioned wire. The steep conditions were a good test for our newly purchased protec tracked post knocker, which coped with ease.
